UNIQLO declined to comment on the report on reducing the scale of US operations and closed 5 US cities since January (2016).

According to an article published, the retailer, which owns 43 stores in the US, was laid off by slow sales and quietly closed five stores in early 2016.

Today (2016) April, Japanese retailers and UNIQLO parent fast selling companies cut almost half of their annual profit targets after the Japanese yen was stubborn. Japan's UNIQLO sales tended to be weak, leading to a 55.1% decline in the first half of the year.

For the 6 months ended in February 29th (2016), the total profit was 47 billion yen (equivalent to 434 million 800 thousand US dollars), while gross profit margin fell to 47.1% from 50.5% in the same period (2015).

However, (2015) revenue grew from 6.5% to 1 trillion and 10 billion in 949 billion 600 million yen.

The report claims that UNIQLO has closed stores in Cornell Dick Danbury, Cherry Hill in New Jersey, Willow Grove in Pennsylvania, Northridge and Staten Island in 5 California shopping centres, and opened less than three years in Staten Island outlet.
