Data Report: Cotton Production Continued To Decline In 2015
The national cotton production statistics released by the National Bureau of statistics show that the whole country in 2015

The total output was 5 million 605 thousand tons, a decrease of 574 thousand tons compared with that in 2014, a decrease of 9.3%.
The decrease of cotton yield was mainly due to the decrease of area.
In 2015, the cotton planting area in China was 3 million 799 thousand hectares (56 million 984 thousand mu), a decrease of 423 thousand and 400 hectares (6 million 351 thousand mu), a decrease of 10% over 2014, and a reduction of 619 thousand tons due to reduced planting area.

Xinjiang
The sown area of cotton decreased by 49 thousand hectares (735 thousand mu) compared with that in 2014, and decreased by 2.5%. Other areas decreased by 374 thousand and 400 hectares (5 million 616 thousand acres), down 16.5%, and the decrease was more than that of last year.
According to different regions, the main cotton areas in the Yellow River and the Yangtze River Basin yield less.
Among them, the cotton area in the the Yellow River River Basin decreased by 182 thousand and 900 hectares (2 million 744 thousand mu), a decrease of 14.8%; the per unit area yield decreased by 30.5 kg (2.03 kg / mu) per hectare, and decreased by 2.8%; the total output decreased by 231 thousand tons, and decreased by 17.2%.
The cotton area in the Yangtze River Basin decreased by 170 thousand and 500 hectares (2 million 558 thousand mu), and decreased by 17.8%. However, the per unit area yield increased by 63.3 kg (4.2 kg / mu) per hectare and increased by 5.8%, resulting in a reduction of 136 thousand tons in total production and a decrease of 13.1%.
The main production area of Xinjiang is further consolidated.
In 2015, Xinjiang's cotton output was 3 million 503 thousand tons, accounting for 62.5% of the total in the country, 3 percentage points higher than that in 2014, and the regional superiority of cotton production was further enhanced.
Among them, the proportion of cotton sown area in Xinjiang accounted for 50.1%, an increase of 3.9 percentage points, and the output per unit area was 1839.6 kg (122.6 kg / mu) per hectare, which was 24.6% higher than the national average.
