The fifth world footwear industry conference (the 5th World Footwear Congress), which has attracted much attention from the industry, was held on November, 24-25, in the shoe industry of Mexico and the capital of Guanajuato (Guanajuato), Leon city.

The theme of this session is to take a step forward and face challenges directly. More than 650 industry organizations from 18 countries and regions, representatives of relevant organizations and entrepreneurs attended the conference. Su Chaoying, chairman of the China Leather Association, executive vice secretary general Nie Yumei, and shoe Specialized Committee director Lu Hua attended the conference.

The conference set up three sub themes, namely, "the global consumer market for shoes", "market access" and "shoe manufacturing" from different angles. Among them, in the sub theme of "shoe manufacturing", three sub themes were set up: "which country and region will be the center of global footwear industry by 2030," "the composition and advantages and disadvantages of various shoe materials" and "new technology, new materials and new technology". Nearly 50 guests delivered speeches, collision views, discussions and communication on the above topics respectively.

Delegates generally agreed that the focus of global footwear industry in the future is still in Asia. With the further emergence of labor costs and other advantages in Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, the speed of industrial spanfer to these countries will be further accelerated. China, as the most important shoe making country in the world, has no way to shake its position, but its output will shrink further in the global market, especially in the developed countries such as the United States.

As for the consumer market, with the rapid economic growth in Asia, especially the rapid rise of the middle class in China and other countries, this region will become the fastest growing area of global footwear consumption in the future. The rapid growth of production and consumption level in India, another big populous country, can not be underestimated. At the same time, per capita footwear consumption in developed countries such as Europe and the United States will maintain a slow growth trend.

According to the participants, the rapid rise of the Internet and smart phones has greatly changed the buying habits of consumers and the marketing mode of enterprises. It enables enterprises to quickly understand consumers' purchase preferences, market demand and fashion trends, and will also greatly push brand promotion. Problems such as how to deliver products to consumers rapidly and so on will also bring more new challenges to shoemaking enterprises.

Some of the guests who participated in the discussion believed that the various standards set up by the EU led to increasingly complicated market access conditions. Trade barrier How to establish a fair, open and spanparent trading system has become a great challenge for the global footwear industry.

China Leather Association At the meeting, the director Su Chaoying expounded the position, role and future trend of leather materials in the footwear industry, and pointed out that the unique characteristics and renewability of natural leather will further strengthen its leading position in the middle and high-end footwear products, but its share in various raw materials will be reduced.

World footwear Congress (WFC) was founded in 2004 by the European footwear industry alliance (CEC) in Europe. It convened every 2 or 3 years to start a dialogue and Discussion on the important issues facing the global footwear industry. This session is jointly sponsored by the European footwear Federation, Mexico Guanajuato footwear industry association and Mexico footwear industry suppliers association. This is the second time that the European footwear Federation will choose its location in Latin America, following the launch of the first general assembly to Brazil outside Europe. With its labor resources, processing technology and strong tanning and processing capabilities, Mexico has made footwear industry an important part of the global industrial chain. Its free trade agreement with the United States has allowed its products to enter the US market with a zero tariff policy, and the span Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) being negotiated will enable Mexico and Vietnam to have more advantages in the future export trade. China's footwear industry will face enormous challenges in its future global competition.
