Over the past few years, the Uzbekistan authorities have been constantly criticized by international human rights activists, pointing out that during the cotton picking season, induced forced labor or modern slaves appeared in the cotton fields of Uzbekistan.

Every year, about 2 million children and adults are forced to send cotton to the fields, picking cotton and selling it to the government at the lowest price, and then at a higher price.

The subsequent profits were directly occupied by Uzbek's privileged class.

NGOs intend to continue to crusade until the International Labour Organization (ILO) confirms that Uzbekistan has completely terminated forced labour in the cotton field.
