China Has The Second Generation Of Pgenic Cotton Invention Patents.

Under the strong support of major pgenic projects, the second generation of pgenic cotton research in China has jumped to the leading level in the world, and has independent intellectual property rights such as international invention patents, so as to lay a solid foundation for getting rid of the long-term dependence on imports of high-end cotton.

This is another important scientific and technological achievement in our high-tech field after the pgenic insect resistant cotton.

According to people's daily, Yu Shuxun, director of the Cotton Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, pointed out that the gap of raw cotton in China has increased year by year, rising from 12% in 2002 to 40% in 2011.

The internal quality of cotton fibers in China is relatively poor, and most of them can only spin 32 yarns, while high-quality raw cotton suitable for spinning 60 or more high count yarns is heavily dependent on imports.

In recent years, the second generation pgenic technology, which aims at improving fiber quality, increasing crop yield and enhancing stress resistance, has become a hot spot in the world's scientific research.
