Russia Will Lower Import Tariffs On Fur

Russian media reported that after joining the world trade organization, by 2014, Russia should reduce tanning or processed fur import tariffs by 1/2. The import tariffs of finished fur products will become tariff duties, which will also be reduced by half by 2015.


According to the existing obligations document on the access commodity market in Russian Federation, the import duty of tanning or processed fur imports is 10%, and will be reduced to 5% by 2014. At the same time, the duty rate should be 7.5% in 2013.


At present, it is a composite tariff and is roughly equivalent to 10%, but the import tariff rate of fur coat and other fur products of not less than 30 euros will become ad valorem duty and 20% when joining the world trade organization. By 2015, the tariff rate will be reduced to 10% immediately, and its tariff will still be 20% in 2013-2014 years.
