Compulsory Inspection System For Textiles In Taiwan

Recently, the Ministry of economic affairs standard Inspection Bureau of Taiwan decided to impose mandatory duties on infant clothing and other textile products from January 1, 2012 onwards since July 1, 2011.

Inspection system

The inspection system is based on CNS 15290 "textile safety (General requirements)".

All products covered must meet the requirements, and only carry the commodity inspection labels before they can be sold in the Taiwan market.

The mandatory inspection system involves textiles and clothing for infants and young children.

Appendages

Towels, sweaters, clothes, swimsuits, underwear, socks, bedding and so on.

In addition to routine testing items, there are clear requirements for lead content, cadmium content, organotin compounds and physical safety items.

In addition, it should be noted that commodity labels must be marked on goods, packaging, labels or instructions, and the ingredients, washing marks and origin should be affixed to commodities.

The inspection specification is more stringent on textile requirements, and is more in line with the requirements of the European Union and other countries. Its implementation will greatly enhance the technical threshold of textiles exported to Taiwan and form a new technical trade barrier.

Textile and clothing products are one of the key export commodities in Ningbo.

Inspection and quarantine department

Statistics show that in 2010, the Ningbo region exported more than 650 batches of textile and clothing products to the Taiwan region, involving more than 12 million US dollars.

The inspection and Quarantine Department reminded the relevant enterprises to do a good job in three aspects: first, we should pay close attention to the latest developments in Taiwan's textile products regulations, and grasp the specific requirements of the relevant laws and regulations through various channels; two, we should actively improve the production process and use environmentally friendly raw materials to ensure product quality and safety; three, we should effectively strengthen technical cooperation with scientific research institutions and testing departments, and enhance our ability to deal with all kinds of technical trade measures through the enhancement of technological capability.
