The World Expo South Africa Pavilion has launched the theme of "Remodeling urban communities". Throughout June, the exhibition will show how South Africa has successfully planned communities since the abolition of apartheid in 1994.

The theme of reshaping urban communities will focus on the achievement of urban infrastructure investment in improving social activities, housing, public life and pportation.

According to the briefing, the 2010 World Cup accelerated the urban pport planning in South Africa. They built new high-speed railways, expanded the National Airport, improved the highway system, laid the asphalt road to the town area, set up a new taxi waiting station and upgraded the local public pport system.

At the same time, the South African government is committed to reshaping the community space. They have built about 2700000 residential units, including low energy sustainable residential areas, and encouraged racial integration through better design.

Yunus Karim, deputy director of the joint office and traditional Affairs Department of South Africa, said that building decent housing helps stabilize communities and create employment opportunities, and at the same time create a sense of pride for residents. Their long-term goal is to ensure that everyone can enjoy superior living conditions, quality services and high quality life in a sustainable neighborhood and vibrant urban space.

During the theme exhibition of "Remodeling urban communities", the South African Pavilion will also hold seminars to promote experience sharing in planning communities.
