It is reported that the two methyl fumarate has a strong bactericidal effect and is widely used for sterilization and mildew proof treatment of leather, footwear, textiles, bamboo and wood products, etc., but excessive use may cause skin allergies, rashes or burns. The official said that if these products contain two methyl fumarate products and exceeded the standard, they will cause the whole batch of products to be returned or recalled, and the enterprises will suffer losses.

To prevent the fate of the recall, the Dongguan inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminded the relevant export enterprises of the city to tighten up the monitoring of the content of two methyl fumarate in the mould inhibitor. When the supply contract was signed with the raw material suppliers, the methyl ester content of fumaric acid should be included in the scope of the contract monitoring. "If necessary, suppliers should be provided with no proof of two methyl fumarate," he said.

It is understood that, in order to help enterprises tide over the difficulties, the Council urged enterprises to set up the anti mildew material suppliers archives as soon as possible, and regularly sampled the mould materials for enterprises. The official said that the bureau also set up a special file for the use of mildew proof materials for enterprises, and detailed registration of enterprises' suppliers, producers and testing conditions of mould resistant materials.
